William ended his side trip and began catching up to the main HikaNation group. Photos and details of catching up are below.

As great as it was to see my family again, the hike catching back up to the group was at the other end of the spectrum -- grueling. I ended up hiking five days to catch up to them, following rock cairns left by the group. Many times I was not sure if I was actually on the right road or not, and if I would actually catch up.

Taking the locals advice to avoid Frakes added an extra 8-9 miles to my catch-up hiking. After skipping the Frakes turnoff (blue dotted line), I headed east/northeast on Route 92, hitting Route 25E and then due south to Middlesboro(solid grey line). The two legs of the triangle were definitley longer than the hypotenuse.
