Bruce Olhson and Scott were singing "Paradise" by John Prine:
Daddy won't you take me back to Muhlenburg County, down by the Green River where Paradise lays. Well, I'm sorry my son but you're too late in asking, Mr. Peabody's coal train has hauled it away.

From William Ewart's journal:
Through Madisonville on Center Street, then on Route 70 to camp - lots of traffic, lots of stares and laughs and even one quadruple take at me in my shorts. Quized by many today - waving hand is sore too. Stopped in an overheated store for a flair pen and some very good donuts from a not-too-friendly-bakery-lady.
Almost cloudless day - nippy but comfortable in shorts, Duofold top, wool shirt, GoreTex jacket. 27 degrees at 1130am in town, but felt warmer.
Huge strip mining operations several miles out of Madisonville - "Surface Disturbance Mining Permits".
Zilch game at Kelty Mike's after supper - Mike H., Howard, Dave M., Kelty Mike and me - good game - lots of laughs.
