From William Ewart's journal:

Road hiking in Peabody Coal Company Mining areas today....under a conveyer belt this am.
Lots of dangerous traffic on the road walking today. Knees and arches aching.

Possible hypothermia setting in (??) during a conversation with Ben, Walking Bob, and Rob:
Toffee Toffee, Coffee Toffee, Chocolate Toffee, Toffee Coffee, etc.

Greenville Shoe Store owner graciously opened up his store and allowed 30 or more of us
to camp out in the heated building for tonight and tomorrow's Rest Day.

Baptist Church dinner tonight was overwhelming with at least 30 varieties of food:
corn, broccili suffle, cole slaw, potato salad, carrot salad, salad salad, fried chicken,
meatloaf, beef stew, beef and noodles, and on and on!!!! Coffee and tea.
Pies and cakes and huge chocolate chip cookies - oh my!!

A tour of the mining area tomorrow.

From "Crossing the U.S." news article:
The only difficulty the hikers expressed about walking through Muhlenberg County was the coal trucks
passing them. Tim Mingus said his pack is like a kite: when a truck passes him, he sometimes gets blown
into a ditch.
